A Deltona woman accused of selling fentanyl to a man who fatally overdosed will spend more than a decade in prison.
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Danielle Nicole Collins pleaded no contest to a manslaughter charge in connection to a drug overdose death that occurred one year earlier. Following the plea, a Volusia County judge sentenced Collins to 13 years’ imprisonment.
Court records show that on April 7, 2025, a DeLand man was found deceased in his home from a drug overdose. While searching the victim’s cellphone, law enforcement found messages that “showed a purchase of fentanyl/heroin had recently been scheduled” with a woman identified as Collins.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office immediately launched an investigation, and detectives arrested Collins the following day during a “buy-bust operation.” The detectives recovered “powdery substances” from Collins that tested positive for fentanyl.
Collins was booked into Volusia County Jail, where she remained in custody until her sentencing earlier this week.
The case was investigated by VCSO’s Overdose Task Force, and it was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Nick Kramperth.
