A 24-year-old Orlando woman was fatally struck by a pickup truck while carrying an infant in a car seat in Seminole County early Tuesday morning.

The accident occurred at around 3:10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, near the intersection of State Road 46 and Jungle Road in Geneva, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

While carrying the car seat and infant, the woman reportedly stepped onto the westbound travel lane of SR 46, west of the Jungle Road intersection. She then walked directly into the path of a Ford F-350, which was heading westbound on the same roadway.

The front section of the pickup truck proceeded to strike the woman, and she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“The infant was not injured and was transported to Orlando Health Lake Mary for precautionary reasons,” said an FHP trooper in the report.

The pickup truck’s driver, identified as a 58-year-old Winter Springs man, was not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
