A 36-year-old Orlando man was killed early Monday morning in a fiery rollover crash on Turkey Lake Road in Orange County.
The fatal two-vehicle accident, which involved an Audi RS 5 and Toyota Camry, occurred at around 1:25 a.m. on Monday, April 20, near the intersection of Turkey Lake Road and Westgate Lakes Boulevard, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Both vehicles were traveling southbound on Turkey Lake Road, south of Westgate Lakes Boulevard, when the Orlando man lost control of his Audi while reportedly speeding.
As a result, the driver’s side of the Audi proceeded to sideswipe the Toyota’s passenger side. After the initial impact, the Audi ran off the roadway onto the east shoulder of Turkey Lake Road before overturning several times, according to the report.
During the rollover crash, the Audi’s driver was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Following the collision, the Audi caught fire and quickly became fully engulfed in flames.
The Toyota’s driver, a 27-year-old Kissimmee man, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of “non-life-threatening injuries.”
The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
