With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a truly remarkable man on April 3, 2026. Born on October 8, 1942, in St. Louis, MO, he lived a full and meaningful life defined by love, service, and an unwavering commitment to the people around him. In 1977, he relocated his family to Orlando, FL, where he built both his career and a lasting legacy in the community.

He was a proud Marine and a dedicated professional who spent more than 40 years in the finance industry. An entrepreneur at heart, he later founded his own mortgage closing services business, where he achieved great success. Throughout his career, he built not only a reputation for excellence, but also lasting relationships—because to him, everyone was a friend. He was deeply passionate about helping others and took great pride in mentoring many throughout his career and in life, offering guidance, encouragement, and support to all who sought it. He lived by a simple but powerful belief: “treat others like you want to be treated,” a principle he demonstrated every day through his actions.

Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He shared over 55 wonderful years of marriage with his beautiful wife, Donna—a partnership rooted in love, devotion, and unwavering support. Family was the center of his world. He had a passion for bringing people together and made it his mission to keep everyone close—not just his immediate family, but extended family, in-laws, and friends alike. His warmth and kindness meant he never met a stranger; he had a unique gift for turning every encounter into a lasting friendship.

He found his greatest joy in making others smile. Whether through laughter, conversation, or simple acts of kindness, he had a way of brightening every room he entered. He lived with a zest for life that was unmatched, greeting each day with happiness and gratitude.

He also had a deep love for sports, especially baseball as a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, which became a meaningful part of his life and legacy. He served on the board of directors for the Altamonte Springs Little League, where he coached his son and many others for over a decade. Most notably, he founded the Orlando Senior Baseball Association, which has grown to over 40 teams. In recognition of his contributions, he was inducted into the association’s Hall of Fame.

He was deeply involved in his community, including serving as President of his Homeowners Association. He was also an active member of his local Veterans Club and was proud to participate in an Honor Flight, a meaningful recognition of his service to our country.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Sr.; his mother, Loretta; and his sisters, Beverly and Charmaine.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna; his children, Sherry (Neil) VanOrman, Kimberly (Michael) Vogler-Ray, and Gilbert III (Mary) Vogler; and his cherished grandsons and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on May 16, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Eastmonte Park Civic Center; 830 Magnolia Drive, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA): https://www.abta.org/ways-to-donate/ or the Florida Rottweiler Rescue Ranch & Sanctuary: https://flrottweilerrescueranch.org/

He was not just a great man—he was the best man we ever knew. The impact he made on the lives of others is immeasurable, and the love he gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy will endure through the countless lives he touched, the memories he created, and the deep connections he fostered throughout his life.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
