Loretta Lackey Pack, 74, former resident of Bryson City in her youth, died Good Friday, April 3, 2026 at Cornerstone Orlando Hospice House in Orlando, Florida after a period of declining health.
Known as “Snookie” to most of her extended family, she was born Dec. 17, 1951, in Vancouver, Washington to the late James “Junior” and Frances Phillips Lackey. She was a 1970 graduate of Oroville High School in California.
She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Black; first husband, Richard Black; and brother-in-law, David Black.
She is survived by her husband, Xander Pack of Casselberry, Florida; children, Kristina Schrag of Providence, Rhode Island, James Black of Sylva, Jennifer Black of Bryson City and Michael Black of Casselberry; grandchildren, Ricky Black of California, Cassandra McIntosh of Bryson City and Thomas Emberg and Eleanor Schrag both of Providence, Rhode Island; great-grandchildren, Skiler and Mason McIntosh of Bryson City; and brother-in-law, Phillip Black.
She will be cremated and her ashes will be scattered near her parents grave in Round Top cemetery at a later date.
