George Shields, formerly of Bethel, OH and a longtime resident of Apopka, FL, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on February 22, 1950, George was known for his strong work ethic, witty humor, and deep love for his family and friends. He worked at his family store, Shields Hardware, in Ohio before moving to Florida, where he successfully ran a satellite business for many years. George shared 57 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Joyce Shields.

George found his greatest joy spending time with those he loved, especially during summers on Norris Lake surrounded by family and friends. Whether relaxing by the water or listening to the music of Eagles, he cherished life’s simple moments and created memories that will live on for generations.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Shields; their daughter Debbie Williams and her husband Terry Williams, and their daughter Laura Solomon and her husband Spencer Solomon; their son Mark Shields and his wife Nichole Shields, along with their children Victoria Dial and her husband Shane Dial and their son Sebastian Dial, Matthew Shields, Megan Shields, and Jacob Shields; and his sister, Susan Jennings and her husband Jim Jennings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Betty Shields and his brother, Doug Shields. A celebration of George’s life will be held this summer for family and friends to gather, share memories, and honor the remarkable man he was.
