More than two years after a man fatally overdosed in Volusia County, detectives have arrested his alleged drug supplier.

Back in April 2024, the victim in this case, Isaac Bowen, died from a drug overdose in Edgewater. Local authorities launched an investigation, which eventually led detectives to identifying Daniel Johnson as the individual who allegedly supplied the fatal narcotics to Bowen.

According to the Edgewater Police Department, detectives obtained evidence – including text messages, images, and video – that reportedly showed Johnson obtaining the drugs for Bowen.

The police department noted in a media release that Johnson was previously arrested for child neglect in November 2025. During that incident, Johnson’s child had to call 911 for help after Johnson reportedly showed the child how to administer Narcan to him in the event of an overdose.

Following the fatal overdose investigation, authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Johnson. He was recently apprehended by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and booked into Marion County Jail, where he currently remains in custody.

Johnson is being charged with manslaughter, and his bond has been set at $150,000.

Shortly after Johnson’s arrest, the Edgewater Police Department released the following statement:

Our hearts remain with the Bowen family. While nothing can undo the pain of losing Isaac, we are thankful this case has moved forward and his family now has some measure of closure.
