Jack was born on December 23, 1934 in Spartanburg, South Carolina to John Joseph Huber, Sr. and Sallie Mae (Lohr) Huber. He grew up in Spartanburg, SC until he graduated from Spartanburg High School.
He did some traveling after high school until he joined the United States Navy in 1955 and served until 1961. While serving in the Navy in Sanford, Florida, Jack met Gertrude (Trudy) McCarley on a blind date November 11, 1957 and were married the following July 25, 1958.
Their first son (John, III) was born July 29, 1959. Jack went to work at Martin Marrietta in Orlando, Florida and moved his family to Tangelo Park (Orlando) close to his work. Their daughter (Shirley Ann) was born June 21, 1962. They moved to a new house closer
to downtown Orlando in the summer of 1977.
Their second son (Clay Alexander) was born several months later on December 7, 1977. Jack worked at Martin Marietta on many different aeronautical programs for 34 years until his retirement in 1993. Jack served as a Deacon, Teacher and on many church committees at Tangelo Park Baptist Church in his younger days and then Delaney Street Baptist Church for the remainder of his active church service.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents John Joseph and Sallie Mae Huber; his loving wife, Gertrude McCarley Huber; his brother Richard Huber; his sister, Esther Keelan.
Jack is survived by his son, John J. Huber, III (wife, Shirley A. Huber); daughter, Shirley A. Brinson (husband, W. Dan Brinson, Jr); son, Clay A. Huber; grandchildren, Jordan A. Huber, Lewis N. Vail, III (Lora), Bryant T. Vail, John W. Vail, Bode A. Huber; great grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held on June 1, 2026 at Delaney Street Baptist Church located at 1919 S. Delaney Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32806 at 10 a.m. preceded with visitation at 9:30am. Military service to be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at 1 p.m.
