A 26-year-old man was apprehended on Monday morning after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s Daytona Beach residence and fired a gun.

At around 5:30 a.m. on Monday, June 15, Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home located on Valley Drive in Daytona Beach in reference to a reported home invasion and shooting.

According to VCSO, an initial investigation reportedly revealed that a man, identified as 26-year-old Bernard Millsap Jr., had approached a residence belonging to his ex-girlfriend. He then allegedly kicked in the door, unlawfully entered the house, and fired a handgun before fleeing from the area.

There were no injuries reported.

Following the break-in, law enforcement tracked Millsap to his apartment complex located on State Street in Holly Hill.

Shortly before 11 a.m. on Monday, Millsap exited his apartment and surrendered to authorities without further incident.

Millsap was taken into custody by Holly Hill police. No further details were provided by law enforcement regarding this incident or any charges that Millsap will be facing in connection with this case.
