A 27-year-old Kissimmee man died early Saturday morning after his motorcycle rear-ended a tractor-trailer in Orange County.

The fatal collision occurred shortly after 2:10 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, near the intersection of Taft Vineland Road and Sidney Hayes Road in Orlando, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

FHP stated that two vehicles were traveling eastbound on Taft Vineland Road: a 2025 Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycle and a Volvo semi-tractor with a double trailer. The tractor-trailer was reportedly in front of the motorcycle as both vehicles approached Sidney Hayes Road.

The motorcycle’s 27-year-old rider reportedly failed to slow down for the truck ahead, causing the front of his motorcycle to strike the rear of the trailer.

According to the report, the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The semi-truck’s driver, identified as a 33-year-old St. Johns man, was not injured.

A trooper noted that the fatal collision remains under investigation.
