A driver was killed on Tuesday night after his pickup truck struck a concrete culvert, tree, and fence before catching fire in Seminole County.
The fatal crash occurred at around 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, near the intersection of State Road 46 and County Road 426 in Geneva, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
FHP stated that a male driver was traveling westbound on SR 46 in a 1987 Dodge W-Series pickup truck when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the vehicle while approaching the CR 426 intersection.
The pickup truck reportedly veered off the right side of the roadway, where it collided with a culvert. The vehicle then continued in a westerly direction, striking a tree and fence before entering an embankment and becoming engulfed in flames.
The driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. In the report, a trooper noted that the Medical Examiner’s Office will contact FHP once the driver has been positively identified.
The single-vehicle crash remains under investigation.
