A vehicle’s engine was thrown into oncoming traffic after an accident on SR 429 Thursday afternoon.
The crash took place at 12:20 p.m yesterday around mile marker 19 on the highway in Orange County. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, a sedan was traveling northbound on SR-429 before it lost control, traveled through the grass median, and struck a semi-truck traveling southbound.
The head-on collision dislodged the engine from the sedan and propelled it into an SUV that was traveling northbound. The semi-truck struck and damaged the guardrail.
The driver of the sedan was transported to the hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the semi-truck and SUV were not injured.
