City officials celebrated the grand opening of new pickleball courts in east Orlando this week.
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 2 City Commissioner Tony Ortiz were on hand to cut the ribbon on six new pickleball courts at the Dover Shores Neighborhood Center, which is located at 1400 Gaston Foster Road.
The pickleball courts are the first public courts the City of Orlando has constructed.
Pickleball is one of the most popular sports in active adult communities like The Villages, Florida, and is one of the fastest growing sports in the nation.
According to city officials, in addition to meeting resident demands, these new courts are part of the city’s efforts to provide quality amenities at city parks for all ages to enjoy.
