A 37-year-old tourist visiting from Indiana was killed after she was hit by a vehicle while attempting to cross International Drive.
The fatal accident took place around 8:50 p.m. on Saturday, April 23. According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 37-year-old woman from Greencastle, Indiana, was attempting to cross International Drive at Sand Lake Road from west to east.
A 2001 Honda Civic being driven by a 19-year-old Orlando man was driving northbound on International Drive and traveled through the intersection on a green light, according to FHP. The woman failed to yield to the vehicle and the front of the Honda struck her.
She was transported to Dr. Phillips Hospital where she later passed away from her injuries.
The crash remains under investigation and the identity of the woman has not been released, per FHP policy.
Earlier this year, 14-year-old Tyre Sampson lost his life on International Drive after he fell to his death from the Orlando Free Fall ride in ICON Park. Sampson had been visiting with family friends on Spring Break.
