George D Christy

George Daniel Christy, 73, of Orlando, FL (formerly of Syracuse, New York) passed away on May 29, 2022. He was born in Syracuse on September 27, 1948, graduated from Manlius Military Academy, and attended University of Miami.

George diligently served 20 years with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office in Syracuse, retiring as a sergeant. He had a diverse career serving as a patrol officer and undercover narcotics investigator. Due to his background, George was able to work effectively in diverse areas such as the Onondaga Nation as an officer. In addition, he served in the Personnel, Aviation, and Training Units and was a distinguished marksman on the SWAT team.
Upon his retirement he worked for the Wilmorite Corp. as a Training Officer and Information Technology Specialist. He also was an instructor at Onondaga Community College teaching Emergency Management.
After moving to Florida in 2005, he worked as a Private Investigator and then spent eight years with JetBlue Airways as an Instructor for Corporate Security.

He was predeceased by his parents: Donald P. Christy, Sr and Dorothy (Gilbert) Christy, and his brother Donald P. Christy, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Marjorie (Sullivan) Christy and children: Virginia (Peter) Lamothe, Andrea Christy, Nicholas (Jamie MacDonald) Christy and Colleen Christy; and granddaughter Makayla Simanteris. He is also survived by his brothers- and sisters-in-law: Kevin and Sharon Sullivan, Terrence and Judy Sullivan, Daniel and Alison Sullivan, Thomas and Kathy Sullivan, Bradley Sullivan, Jennie Sullivan, and many nieces and nephews.

George was liked and admired by everyone who knew him. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and as a selfless and loving husband, father and grandfather.
