A collection of gates were temporarily closed last night after a fire broke out at an Orlando International Airport restaurant.

Just after 7 p.m. yesterday, crews from the Orlando International Airport Fire Rescue responded to smoke in the area of Gates 70-99, in Terminal B.

Crews discovered that a fire began at the Burger King nearby and were able to extinguish the flames. Smoke was present in the area, which caused the closure of gates 80 to 89, while 70-79 and 90-99 were permitted to reopen.

After a couple hours, the smoke dissipated and entrance to gates 80-89 was reopened just before 8:45 p.m.

“We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our travelers affected by this situation, while our Fire Department, OPD and Ops resolved the issue” reads a statement from the airport posted on social media.
