A 30-year-old Ocoee man has been arrested and charged in the murder of a man in a west Orlando shooting that took place over the weekend.
Marquis Jarrod Henderson was arrested on Sunday, September 11, by Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies less than 24 hours after he allegedly shot and killed 28-year-old De’Vonta Sheldon Mathis.
On Saturday, September 10, OCSO deputies responded to the 7900 block of Arabian Place after receiving calls regarding a shooting around 4:44 p.m.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered Mathis suffering from gun shot wounds. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Henderson has been charged with third degree felony murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is currently being held without bond at the Orange County Jail, according to court records.
