Nora Medina Ortega, 84, passed away on September 9, 2022, in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Nora was a beautiful, loving, kind, thoughtful, and generous person. She was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
She was loved and adored by so many. Nora loved celebrating holidays and special occasions in her home with family and friends. She loved to travel and one of her favorite places to go was the beach. She loved art and really enjoyed drawing and painting. Her love for music and laughter and her witty sense of humor has made so many wonderful memories. Nora was born in Summerville, South Carolina on June 11, 1938, to Janie O. and George V. Medina and grew up in New London Connecticut.
She is survived by her husband Jimeno N. Ortega of Altamonte Springs, Florida, her daughters Terry L. Koehnen, South St. Paul, Minnesota, Dawn M. Schagrin, Stuart, Florida, Juanita J. Bridges (Tony, predeceased) Sanford, Florida, Toni M. Smithee (Jim), Osteen, Florida, her son Jimeno J. Ortega (Debbie), Sorrento, Florida.
Nora has 12 grandchildren, Jade, Charly, Abby, Erica, Ciara, Scott, Savanna, Hanna, Joshua, Owen, Loren, and Willow. Nora has 7 great-grandchildren, Stella, Caragh, Annaliese, Jude, Bryan, Harper, and Soli. Nora was raised in a large family and has eight sisters, two brothers, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Nora was employed by Southern New England Telephone company in New London, Connecticut and after moving to Florida in 1978 she worked for Winter Park Telephone which became Sprint where she retired in 2002.
A memorial service is scheduled for Nora on October 7, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church, 1020 Montgomery Road, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Nora’s life.
