The Orlando Police Department has arrested a 36-year-old man who is accused of following a woman to her apartment in downtown Orlando, robbing her of cash, and assaulting her.
Orlando Police Department officers arrested Allen L. McCrone, of Orlando, on Friday, after multiple weeks of investigation by detectives. McCrone faces charges of attempted sexual battery and burglary of a structure with assault/battery.
On Thursday, OPD released photo and video of McCrone as he allegedly followed a female victim for several blocks through downtown Orlando on September 5, just after 2 a.m. During the incident, police say that McCrone gained unauthorized entry into the victim’s apartment, and while inside, engaged in suspected battery.
“We want to stress to the public that our ongoing commitment to provide information in a transparent manner has not changed. We understand that releasing information regarding these types of incidents can alarm the public. In this case, at no time did we believe members of the public were in any danger,” reads a statement from OPD.
McCrone is currently being held without bond at the Orange County Jail.
