Seminole County businesses still under water after Hurricane Ian

Multiple businesses across Oviedo, Sanford, and other parts of Seminole County are still feeling the effects of flooding over two weeks after Hurricane Ian passed through the area.

This week, Seminole County officials interviewed the owners of Black Hammock Adventures & Airboat Rides and Sanford Pizza Company, two businesses that have been devastated by flooding and storm damage.

Sanford Pizza Company, which is owned and operated by Alfredo Colimodio, has been closed since the storm came through the area.

Although the interior of the restaurant, which is located at 350 E Seminole Blvd, was not flooded, waters rose to the edge of the business and caused severe damage.

Colimodio says he has had to dispose of lots of inventory and is struggling to move forward.

“I’m having a hard time right now, but I will come back from this,” said Colimodio.

Joel Martin, who owns Black Hammock Adventures and Airboat Roads, says his business is only accessible by tractor and a makeshift dock.

“Everything is under the water, including the restaurant,” said Martin. “Nobody realized it could be like that.”

Martin says that the business, which is located at 2356 Black Hammock Fish Camp Road in Oviedo, will take a “minimum of two months” to recover from the damage caused by the hurricane.
