Orange County officials provide update on debris removal in weeks after Hurricane Ian

Orange County officials have provided a map that shows the progress and upcoming schedule for debris removal across the area.

According to the Orange County Public Works department, the color-coded map shows areas where contractors have completed a first pass, as well as areas with planned dates when contractors are expected to make a first pass.

The blue zones on the map show areas where a first pass has taken place. Officials say that debris has been “substantially cleared” from those areas marked in blue.

The yellow zones on the map indicate scheduled areas where debris contractors are expected to complete a first pass by this Friday, November 4.

The orange zones on the map show areas where the county expects to complete a first pass by November 18, according to officials.

“Orange County residents should continue to separate storm debris into vegetative, construction and demolition, appliances, electronics, and furniture categories,” reads a statement issued by the county.

Orange County Public Works officials say they plan to have most of the county-maintained roadways, including residential areas, substantially cleared by Thanksgiving on November 24.
