A 76-year-old DeBary man who owns a pest control business was arrested on charges that he has molested multiple children over the past few decades.
Daniel Tillis was arrested by Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Wednesday, January 26, on charges of lewd or lascivious molestation of a victim under the age of 12.
According to police, the child who was victimized by Tillis was not a stranger to him. Police have not released her relation to Tillis in order to protect her identity.
During their investigation into Tillis’ past, detectives spoke with two other adult victims that came forward to report their experiences. Those two adults told police that when they were children, they were also abused by Tillis.
Tillis is the owner and operator of Tillis Pest Control, which is based in DeBary and serves cities across Central Florida.
Because of the nature of the allegations against him and his potential access to customers’ homes, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Child Exploitation Unit is asking anyone with information about other potential cases to contact 386-323-3574.
Tillis is being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail with no bond.
