The Wheel at ICON Park has reopened nearly seven weeks after 62 riders were stranded on the ride as a result of a power failure.
ICON Park officials announced on Friday, February 10, that the ride, which is located at 8401 International Drive, is “ready to welcome guests” for the first time this year.
The ride was previously closed on December 31 after 62 riders who were stranded on the ride during a power failure had to be rescued by Orange County Fire emergency crews.
During the rescue, Orange County Fire Rescue crews climbed the multi-story ride and cleared more than 20 pods containing dozens of passenger. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
It was the second ride closure at the park over the past year, following the permanent closure of Orlando Freefall in October, just seven months after 14-year-old Tyre Sampson was killed after he fell to his death.
