Torchy’s Tacos opening Orlando area location, second in Florida

Torchy’s Tacos is fast at work in preparation to open its first location in the Orlando area later this year.

Only the second location in Florida, the new restaurant is currently under buildout at 999 N State Road 434, Suite 1000 in Altamonte Springs. It joins only one other location in the state in St. Petersburg, which opened earlier this year.

Founded in 2006 in Austin, Texas by Mike Rypka, Torchy’s Tacos currently operates over 100 restaurants across over a dozen states.

As their namesake suggests, the restaurant chain offers a variety of “damn good tacos” with fresh ingredients. All tacos and their included proteins are made from scratch, in-house, every day, and include ingredients like chicken, pork, shrimp, barbacoa, brisket, and blackened salmon, among others.

In addition to tacos, the company serves up burritos, and taco bowls, as well as chips and queso, street corn, Mexican rice, and refried beans.

Every month, the company highlights a “Taco of the Month,” which offers diners a chance to try a taco with untraditional ingredients. The Taco of the Month for February 2023 is the Scallywag, which features coconut shrimp, bacon, green chiles, jack cheese, pickled onions, peach habanero jam, and cilantro.

Multiple restaurants have celebrated grand openings in Altamonte Springs over the past several months. That includes Dave’s Hot Chicken, which opened its doors in November, and Paris Banh Mi.

An opening date and hours for the new Torchy’s Tacos location have not yet been released. For more information or updates on the opening, check back on Orlando-News.com in the coming weeks.
