63-year-old intentionally set fire to her DeLand home, police say

A 63-year-old woman was arrested for arson after she allegedly set her DeLand home on fire.

On Friday, April 21, multiple units from the DeLand Fire Department and officers from DeLand Police Department responded to 517 E. Walts Avenue in response to a structure fire.

Upon arrival, crews found a single-family home fully engulfed in flames. Eight DFD units comprised of 24 emergency personnel were able to knock the fire down.

During an investigation by The Criminal Investigations Division and the State Fire Marshal’s Bureau of Fire Arson and Explosives, officials determined that the home was intentionally set on fire by the resident, Gina White.

White was charged with arson of a structure and was placed under arrest. She was transported to the Volusia County Jail Branch, with a bond set at $50,000.
