Portion of busy Winter Park road closing for sewer lining

A stretch of a well-trafficked thoroughfare in Winter Park will close down for the next couple weeks for the installation of new lining inside the city’s sanitary sewer system pipes.

Beginning Tuesday, May 30, various closures to through traffic will take place on Palmer Avenue between Park Avenue and Alabama Drive in the city of Winter Park. The closures take place overnight from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and will last through Friday, June 16, permitted there are no delays on account of weather.

The closure comes in light of a sanitary sewer pipe lining project being conducted by Atlantic Pipe Services. According to city officials, the installation of lining inside the city’s existing sanitary sewer system pipes will “strengthen and protect the city’s underground system from leaks caused by breakage or cracks.”

Detour routes will be clearly denoted throughout the duration of the project. Driveways and sidewalks may be briefly blocked during the service, and residents are advised to make plans to allow for additional time if they are traveling through the area during the closure period.

For more information or questions, contact Atlantic Pipe Services’ representative Matt Blais at 386-262-5145, or Winter Park Senior Public Works Inspector Jim Struckmeyer at 407-450-0815.
