A new roadway that connects to the Osceola Parkway has opened to the public after months of construction.
On Wednesday, Osceola County officials hosted a ribbon cutting for the newly constructed, 1.13-mile Bill Beck Boulevard. The two-lane road begins approximately 1,600 feet south of the Kissimmee Charter Academy and extends to an intersection with Osceola Parkway.
The new area includes a sidewalk, curb, gutter, closed drainage system, and provisions for street lighting. It also includes new signalization at the unsignalized intersection of Bill Beck Boulevard and Osceola Parkway.
Crews also built a 2-lane bridge over Mill Slough and modified the existing pond at the Kissimmee Charter Academy in order to accommodate the road. Three new ponds were constructed and another pond was removed.
The roadway was built with two lanes, but engineers it for possible expansion to four lanes in the future, according to county officials.
Bill Beck Boulevard and four other roads are part of the county’s plan to improvement roadways using improvement funds leveraged by the refinancing of the Osceola Parkway. The “Osceola Roads” plan includes a collaboration between the county and national partners, involving a total investment of over $2 billion.
