Another international flight was diverted from Miami to Orlando this week on account of severe weather, stranding passengers for over seven hours in a week that has seen dozens of similar incidents.
On Monday, June 19, British Airways flight BAW207 was diverted to land at Orlando International Airport. The flight, which departed London’s Heathrow Airport at approximately 10:27 a.m. BST, landed in Orlando at around 3:30 p.m.
In total, the flight was in the air for 10 hours and 3 minutes, according to data provided by FlightAware.
Upon landing, the aircraft and its passengers then became stranded on the tarmac for over seven hours.
Eventually, the passengers were transported via flight BAW9603, which departed the airport just after midnight and arrived in Miami just before 1 a.m.
Thunderstorms and rain have been behind multiple diversions to the Orlando International Airport. On Saturday, a flight coming in from Spanish airline Iberia was diverted from Miami to MCO for a “quick refuel,” according to airport staff.
On Tuesday, multiple planes were diverted to Orlando from airlines all across the world, including Air France and ITA Airways, among others.
