Thai restaurant fails fourth health inspection since last May

A local Thai restaurant was forced to temporarily close for several hours after failing a health inspection, marking its fourth closure since last May.

Oudom Thai Restaurant, which is located at 217-B N Woodland Boulevard in DeLand, was forced to temporarily close its doors on Wednesday, July 12 after a failed health inspection, which comes just two months after a separate closure in May.

According to a report filed with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, at least 17 health code violations were cited during the visit.

Among the violations were seven considered high priority, including the presence of rodents. During the inspection, at least 15 rodent droppings were found around the kitchen.

Additionally, multiple foods were cited for being held at temperatures that were too high, including eggs and cream cheese.

The restaurant was reinspected on the same day and was permitted to reopen after only seven violations were cited, none of which were high priority.

The closure follows similar closures dating back to last May. The restaurant was forced to close on May 25, 2022, July 27, 2022, and most recently on May 11, 2023, all for health inspection failures.
