Driver sought in hit-and-run that killed 65-year-old bicyclist near airport

The Florida Highway Patrol is trying to find a driver who fled the scene of a fatal hit and run accident after their vehicle crashed into a man riding his bicycle near the Orlando International Airport.

According to FHP, the fatal accident took place on July 26, 2023, at around 8:07 a.m.

On that day, a vehicle that has been described as a white in color GMC was traveling eastbound on Jetport Drive, just east of Benrus Street, when it struck a bicycle that was traveling in the same direction.

The bicyclist, a 65-year-old man from Orlando, was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center after the accident. Two days later, on July 28, he was pronounced deceased.

The FHP believes the vehicle responsible for the accident would be missing the left front headlight assembly and would show damage on the left front bumper/fender.

If you have any information that may help police identify the vehicle and driver responsible for this fatal accident, please contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 407-737-2213, or the Central Florida Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
