We regret to announce the passing of Nyion Izambo Ponteen of Newtown, Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis. He sadly passed away on July 10th, 2023, at 32 years old in Orlando, Florida. He enjoyed playing basketball and he jokingly made fun of himself for being “chubby” in his younger days. In his professional life, Nyion was an avid chef who enjoyed cooking and preparing island food, especially for his non-island customers. To honor Nyion’s memory, we are holding a celebration of his life on September 1, 2023 at World of Life New Testament Church of God Central Street by Officiating Minister, Bishop Matthew in Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis. We invite anyone who knew him to attend and remember his wonderful life.
We’ll always treasure the brief time we had with him. “Blessed are you, Lord, our God, king of the universe, the just judge…To you, O Lord, we lift up his soul.” He is gone, but never forgotten.
Nyion is survived by his loving parents, Ingrid Ponteen and Nyron Wattley, also known as ‘Shabom’; 2 sisters, Joenel and Jamika Ponteen; 3 brothers, Miguel Ponteen, Shawn Ponteen, and Imron Ponteen. Other relatives and friends in USVI, USA, UK, Anguilla, Montserrat, and St. Kitts & Nevis.
