A woman and three children were killed after their minivan was struck by a speeding car that ran a stop sign in Osceola County on Sunday night.

The fatal accident took place at the intersection of San Miguel Street and Laurel Avenue on Sunday, September 3, at around 6:56 p.m.

According to the report by the Florida Highway Patrol, a 15-year-old Kissimmee boy was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Impala northbound on Laurel Avenue at a “high rate of speed,” approaching a stop sign at the roadway’s intersection with San Miguel Street.

The driver failed to stop for a posted stop sign on Laurel Avenue and, as a result, his Impala crashed into the side of a 2022 Honda HR-V being driven by a 50-year-old Poinciana woman.

The impact caused the Honda to redirect in a northwesterly direction and rotate before traveling onto the grass shoulder and collided with a light pole.

The Impala continued north after the collision and came to final rest on the west grass shoulder.

The driver of the Impala was transported to Osceola Regional Hospital with serious injuries. His three passengers, all 15-year-old boys from Kissimmee, received minor injuries in the crash.

The Poinciana woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. Three of her passengers, a 9-year-old boy, a 1-year-old girl, and an 11-year-old child, were all killed by the accident.

The front passenger in the vehicle, a 52-year-old Poinciana man, was also seriously injured in the crash.
