Suspect arrested in shooting that killed young mother, injured 3 others

Orlando police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting that left three people injured and claimed the life of a 22-year-old mother of two.

Delray Shundale Duncan was arrested within hours of a shooting that took place on Mercy Drive on Friday, according to a statement issued by the Orlando Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of a large group of people fighting with shots fired at the Jernigan Gardens Apartments located at 1440 Mercy Drive on Friday, September 22, at around 2:34 p.m.

Delray Shundale Duncan, 23, was arrested on multiple felony charges in connection with a shooting in west Orlando that claimed the life of Macayla Queen Patterson.

Upon arrival, police located three individuals who had been struck by gunfire and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

An addition victim, Macayla Queen Patterson, was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.

Later in the day, OPD said it located and arrested Duncan, who is 23 years old.

Duncan is being charged with attempted homicide and first degree felony murder in connection with the shooting.

Patterson, who went by the nickname “Ruby K’ior,” was an entrepreneur, hair stylist and licensed cosmetologist who owned Kiorsko, LLC. She was the mother of two young boys.
