Law enforcement authorities say they issued over 200 citations and made four arrests related to street racing during one day last weekend.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday, October 8, deputies were contacted regarding a large gathering of cars that were street racing.
Video shared by OCSO shows hundreds of vehicles stationed around a large parking lot. While bystanders watch from the sidelines, multiple vehicles are seen drifting around the parking lot in circles.
“We’ve warned you that we are watching and will not tolerate illegal street racing, intersection takeovers or reckless driving,” reads a statement from OCSO.
On Sunday, OCSO says it arrested four individuals and issued approximately 201 citations.
“If you do this in Orange County, you will be caught, you will go to jail and your car will be impounded for 30 days,” says OCSO.
In August, OCSO detectives arrested an individual wanted in connection with an April incident in which he and several other street racers surrounded an Orange County Fire Rescue vehicle and prevented it from responding to an emergency.
This year, local law enforcement authorities have issued hundreds of citations and made dozens of arrests related to street racing.
