Willie B. McClendon was born August 27, 1935 in Eufaula, Alabama, to Hayward and Martha McClendon. He was affectionately called “Spider” by his family and friends.
Willie moved to Clermont, Florida, as a young man with his parents and siblings. He proceeded to work for Roper Citrus Groves. He worked as Foreman of Grove Services, maintaining and growing citrus. He worked for over 50 years. He was a family man, a loving father to his nine children. His smile always lit up the room.
Willie departed this life on October 2, 2023.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, Haywood and Martha McClendon; his sister Alma Howard; his brother L.W. “Dank” McClendon; and his partner and mother of his nine children, Lillie Mae Gordon.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: his Children, Lee Gordon, Groveland, Florida; Willie C. McClendon, Orlando, Florida, Betty Slaughter (Douglas), Draper, Virginia, Gloria Fogle (Eugene, deceased), Clermont, Florida, Margaret Smith (Everette), Clermont, Florida, Trinia Washington (Ken) Ocoee, Florida, Pamela McClendon, Orlando, Florida, Kenneth McClendon and Cliffton McClendon, Clermont, Florida; 20 Grandchildren; 10 Great-Grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
