A 48-year-old Orlando man who was attempting to cross a local roadway on his mobility scooter was struck by a vehicle and killed on Friday night.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal accident took place at around 10:10 p.m. on Friday, October 27.
The man was traveling in an easterly direction when he entered the southbound lane of Goldenrod Road, outside of a marked crosswalk.
Upon entering the roadway, the man’s scooter went directly into the path of a 2008 Honda CRV that was traveling southbound on Goldenrod Road, just south of Snyder Drive.
As a result, the front of the Honda struck the scooter.
The man on the scooter was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Honda, a 65-year-old Orlando man, was not injured in the accident.
