A local county has put out a call to artists around the world to help it develop an innovation lab that will house a variety of art forms and installations that encourage community engagement.

The Orange County Public Art Review Board announced that it is seeking artists to develop artwork for a lab located within a multicultural center in the heart of the Pine Hills community.

According to the county, the center will house “vibrant, welcoming spaces for community enrichment, including the Innovation Lab and a Senior Center.”

The county envisions the innovation lab as being an “inspirational maker space for creators of all ages.” The exhibits will help creators “conceive and create” technology-based items and ideas.

“From robotics to virtual reality, there will be a variety of ideation spaces,” according to the county.

Officials say the center will also feature a computer lab, collaboration and training spaces, a virtual reality den, and an idea lab, among other spaces.

The county says any artist is eligible to apply and applications will be accepted through Wednesday, December 27.
