Orlando was named the second most fun city, with more restaurants and dance clubs per capita than most cities across the nation.
On Monday, WalletHub announced its 2024 Most Fun Cities in America, ranking the City Beautiful second, just after Las Vegas.
According to WalletHub, the company compared more than 180 cities across three key dimensions: Entertainment & Recreation; Nightlife & Parties; and Costs. Those dimensions were broken down into 65 key metrics, ranging from fitness centers per capita to average business hours of breweries.
According to the list, Orlando was tied for first with several other cities for having the most restaurants per capita. The city also ranked second for fitness center per capita, and fifth for dance clubs per capita. Other categories included sports like baseball diamonds, basketball hoops, and golf courses per capita, as well as fishing facilities per capita, boat and water sports per capita, and shopping centers per capita, among many others.
“While you might expect to pay high prices for a stay in Orlando, the amusement-park markup doesn’t necessarily extend to the rest of the city. For example, Orlando actually has one of the lowest nightly rates for a 3-star hotel room, and relatively low average prices for staple foods like pizza and burgers,” reads a statement from WalletHub.
According to the report, the average American spends “over $3,400 on entertainment” each year.
Orlando was one of eleven cities in Florida that made the list, including Miami (#3), Tampa (#17), Fort Lauderdale (#18), Jacksonville (#37), St. Petersburg (#38), Tallahassee (#82), Cape Coral (#100), Hialeah (#135), Pembroke Pines (#142), and Port St. Lucie (#149).
The ranking follows a year of similar accolades for the City Beautiful.
Earlier this year, WalletHub named Orlando the 2023 Best Foodie City in America.
Orlando was also one of four cities in Florida, including two in Orange County, that ranked in the top 100 best places to live in the United States.
Earlier this summer, WalletHub ranked Orlando as the best city for summer jobs, the second best city for recreation, and the 40th best place to rent in America.
In May, the website named Orlando the best large city in which to start a business.
