A local restaurant that specializes in a fusion of Chinese and Latin cuisines was forced to close its doors for two days last week after it was cited for multiple health code violations.
Nan King Restaurant, which is located at 6618 Old Winter Garden Road in Orlando, was forced to temporarily close on December 11 and December 12, according to a health inspection report from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
During the first inspection, the restaurant was cited for 30 code violations, including 8 considered high priority.
Among the high priority violations was the presence of roaches. During the inspection, the report notes that three live roaches were found at a prep sink and four others were found at a mop sink.
In addition to the roaches, the restaurant was cited for storing various foods at temperatures greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. That includes eggs stored at 55 degrees and garlic held in water that was 115 degrees.
According to the report, the operator placed both of the items in the freezer for “quick cool.”
During a second inspection the following day, the restaurant was cited for 10 violations. The report notes that three more live roaches were found during the follow-up inspection.
The restaurant was reinspected on Wednesday, December 13, and was permitted to reopen after it was cited for 8 violations.
