Another teen arrested in murder of 16-year-old at Orlando apartment complex

Orlando police have arrested another teenaged suspect in connection with the murder of a 16-year-old at a local apartment complex in November.

Rise K. Burgess, 16, was arrested on Friday, January 12, in connection with the fatal shooting of Randy Smith.

Burgess’s arrest comes just a week after 17-year-old Trayvon Randell Jackson was arrested in the same case.

Smith was found at the Metro Place Apartments on November 18, 2023. OPD officers responded to calls regarding gunshots and a white SUV stuck on a parking block.

Upon arrival, Smith was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Burgess faces the same charges as Jackson: Second degree murder and robbery with a firearm. Both are being held without bond.
