A 25-year-old Altamonte Springs man who allegedly led police on a 38-mile chase has been accused of kidnapping and child neglect after it was discovered that two young children were in the back seat during the incident.
On Sunday, February 4, Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with an expired registration in the area of State Road 415 and Howland Boulevard.
According to VCSO, the driver sped up the vehicle before weaving in and out of traffic. The vehicle fled north and eventually went onto State Road 44 and then to Interstate 4.
Authorities used a stop stick and disabled both passenger side tires to come off the rims of the vehicle. After approximately 38 miles, Breedlove pulled over the vehicle in Sanford.
After taking Breedlove into custody, two young children were located in the back seat of the vehicle.
The mother of the children, who was seated in the front passenger seat, allegedly told deputies that she asked Breedlove to stop and think of the safety of the children.
Breedlove, who had a suspended license, was charged with three counts of kidnapping, two counts of child neglect, and one count of fleeing/eluding law enforcement authorities with active sirens.
