Walt Disney World will open a new ride based on the movie The Princess and the Frog this Summer.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open at Magic Kingdom later this Summer, according to a statement issued by the park this week as part of its Mardi Gras celebration.
The ride replaces Splash Mountain, which closed to riders in January 2023 and officially shut down on May 31, 2023.
The new ride will feature multiple enhancements over its predecessor, which opened in the summer of 1989.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will take place during Mardi Gras season and is hosted by Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen. Actors who lent their voices to the film will also reprise their roles on the ride, including Bruno Campos as Prince Naveen, Michael Leon Wooley as Louis, and Anika Noni Rose as Princess Tiana.
Last week, the company released video of the newly crafted Tiana animatronic.
The role of Mama Odie, a “two-hundred-year-old Bayou Fairy Godmother,” will be voiced by actress Jenifer Lewis.
The ride will also feature a brand new cast of original Disney characters with distinct names and personalities, and dozens of audio-animatronics figures. New, original music will also be scored for the ride, and the “alluring scent of beignets” will be pumped through the attraction’s line.
