A 32-year-old man from DeLand was arrested on Valentine’s Day for the fifth time in the past five years after he allegedly stabbed a victim in the face.
DeLand Police Department officers and deputies from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 300 block of E. New York Avenue at around 11:10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14 in reference to a call for a person who had been stabbed.
Upon arrival, a victim was found suffering from a laceration to the upper area of the face. The suspect had fled the scene on foot, according to VCSO.
Law enforcement authorities conducted a two-hour search for the suspect, who was eventually located at the intersection of Plymouth Avenue and Woodland Boulevard.
The suspect was identified as Jeffery Lynn Edwards. A search of Volusia County records shows that Edwards has been arrested for various offenses at least five times over the past five years.
Edwards was booked into the Volusia County Jail, where he is currently being held. He is facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and violation of probation.
