A woman who was allegedly knocking on doors in south Orlando and displaying erratic behavior died after she fought with a deputy and became unresponsive.
Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the 11000 block of Crystal Glen Boulevard on Tuesday, February 20, at around 3 a.m. in reference to a woman knocking on doors and displaying erratic behvaior.
According to OCSO, the first deputy that arrived on the scene heard breaking glass, which was later determined to be the woman throwing a large paver stone through a home’s window.
That deputy made contact with the woman and a fight ensued, according to OCSO. Additional deputies arrived at the scene and secured the woman.
After she was secured, the woman allegedly became unresponsive.
Deputies rendered aid and the woman was transported to the hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The woman’s death is currently under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The FDLE will turn over its findings to the State Attorney’s Office for review. Once complete, OCSO will conduct an internal investigation.
The deputies involved in the shooting are on temporary, paid administrative leave.
