Carolyn B. Edwards of Belle Isle, Florida went to be with the Lord on February 24, 2024 after a short illness.
Carolyn, the second daughter of Leroy and Edith Bell, was born in June, 1935 in St. George, South Carolina. Her sisters Lois and Nancy and brothers Charlie and Larry completed the family. The Bells were farmers and Carolyn learned hard work, such as picking cotton, at a young age.
After graduating from high school, she attended nursing school at South Carolina Baptist Hospital where she graduated as a registered nurse in 1956. Her nursing career included work for the Veterans Administration hospital in Miami and the US Naval Training Center hospital in Orlando.
While attending nursing school she met and fell in love with Jack Edwards of Fork, South Carolina, a young US Navy veteran attending the University of South Carolina on the GI Bill. They were married in 1956 and spent many happy years together until Jack was called home to be with the Lord in June, 2015.
Carolyn was predeceased by her sister Lois and brothers in law Kay James and Harold Woods. She is survived by her son, Erney and his wife, Ann; sister Nancy and her families; brothers Charlie (Martha Ann) and Larry (Jane) and their families; and the families of her sister Lois.
Carolyn’s family would like to thank her friends at First Baptist Church of Pine Castle, along with her special neighbor Marjorie Anderson, for all the care, support, and prayers she received over the years.
