Pedestrian killed while crossing roadway in Kissimmee

A 22-year-old woman from Kissimmee was killed after she was struck by a pickup truck while crossing a roadway in Osceola County on Sunday evening.

The fatal accident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. on March 10, near the intersection of Poinciana Boulevard and Waterview Estates Boulevard in Kissimmee.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was walking in a westerly direction across the southbound lanes of Poinciana Boulevard. A trooper noted that the pedestrian was in the marked crosswalk.

At the same time, a 28-year-old Kissimmee man was traveling southbound on Poinciana Boulevard in a 2015 Ford F-150 pickup truck. A witness told investigators that the traffic light was green as the vehicle approached the intersection of Waterview Estates Boulevard.

FHP stated that the pedestrian proceeded to walk into the direct path of the pickup truck, and she was struck by the vehicle’s front right side.

After the collision, the pickup truck continued heading southbound on Poinciana Boulevard before returning to the scene of the crash. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was not injured, and he told investigators that he “did not know what he struck.”

The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The FHP report stated that the crash remains under investigation.
