Robert Nieves

Robert Nieves of Altamonte Springs, Florida, passed away on the 23rd of February 2024 at the age of 93. He was born on the 12th of September 1930 in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

He worked as a bus driver in New York. He met his wife, Maureen, on the bus he was driving. Soon enough they married and spent years of traveling around the world going on several cruises and fine dining.

He was a proud Marine and Catholic. He did his best to help where he could. In his last few years, he thoroughly enjoyed celebrating all the holidays, Christmas being his favorite. Coloring Easter eggs was his favorite thing to do during Easter second to having some carrot cake.

Robert always enjoyed watching his favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees. Could never talk about his love for Chinese women without laughing, it became a running joke and topic to get him to laugh.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mercedes Nieves and wife, Maureen Nieves. He is survived by his grandson, Alex James Nieves.

The family would like to thank his utterly wonderful ARNP Vera Ahmad (Gigi) whose been a complete blessing for the years of being with us. The amazing hospice care nurses, Teresa, and Flora. The compassionate hospice social workers, Mellisa, and Mia. The devoted hospice chaplain Diego. The empathetic Maria Pou and her family. For the care and compassion, they showed our loved one in their final days.

Robert was an amazing grandfather, and I couldn’t have asked for a better one. I know the first thing he’ll do in heaven is meet his wife once more.
