1 killed, 1 injured after two motorcycles collide in Osceola County

An Osceola County crash involving two motorcycles left one man dead and another injured on Wednesday evening.

The two motorcycles, a 2022 Kawasaki ZX-6R and 2006 Yamaha YZF-R6, were both traveling northbound on Hickory Tree Road, north of the Chaplin Road intersection, shortly after 5:45 p.m., according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP stated that the rider of the Kawasaki motorcycle, identified in the report as a 48-year-old man from St. Cloud, lost control of his vehicle. Moments later, his motorcycle struck the left side of the Yamaha motorcycle.

A trooper noted in the report that the impact caused both motorcycles to veer off the roadway, and the Kawasaki proceeded to strike a fence and tree.

The Kawasaki’s rider, a 29-year-old St. Cloud man, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The rider of the Yamaha motorcycle was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The roadway near the site of the crash was temporarily blocked on Wednesday evening.

The report stated that both motorcyclists were not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Their names were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash remains under investigation.
