Our beautiful mother and grandmother, Maria Munoz, passed away peacefully at age 94 on Wednesday, May 8th. She was surrounded by love, music and had her family at her side.
Born in Santiago, Chile in August 1929, she emigrated to the United States in 1966 where she embraced the American way of life and raised her family. Her home was always filled with love, music, laughter, and delicious home cooked meals. She created her own traditions by making up bed time stories about a palm tree, having Santa Claus hide our presents around the house, wearing her pearls to the beach because she thought the ocean was good for them, and would call us to go outside and look at the moon when it was particularly beautiful. She was a strong and independent woman who loved games, playing jokes on people, feeding the birds in her yard, and making enough scrambled eggs for her grand dog’s breakfast while pet sitting that she was considerably rounder when her family went to pick her up. There was much to love about her.
Missing her already are daughters Monica Cardona and Sandra Delgado, grandchildren Isabelle Delgado and Danny Delgado, son in law Angel Delgado, and several furry grandkids.
She has been reunited with her mother Gloria Lettich, her sister Adriana Hidalgo, her husband Heriberto Munoz, and her son in law Arturo Cardona. She is now free and healthy and forever young as she embarks on her new adventure.
Should you wish to celebrate her life or honor her memory, take a walk outside and enjoy the flowers and sunshine, listen to music, read a good book, or make a favorite meal for someone you love.
