A 21-year-old Orlando man was killed on Tuesday night after his motorcycle struck a car that turned into his path.
The fatal accident occurred at around 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, at the intersection of Oak Ridge Road and Texas Avenue in Orlando.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2009 Acura RL was traveling eastbound in the left turn lane on Oak Ridge Road, near the intersection of Texas Avenue.
At the same time, a 2023 Honda motorcycle was heading westbound on Oak Ridge Road, east of the Texas Avenue intersection, in the inside travel lane.
FHP stated that the driver of the Acura, a 28-year-old Orlando man, proceeded to make a left turn at the intersection. During that turn, the car traveled directly in the path of the motorcycle, and a collision ensued.
According to the report, the front left section of the Acura struck the front of the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. The report stated that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The driver and sole occupant of the Acura was not injured.
An FHP trooper noted in the report that the fatal crash remains under investigation.
